We are seeking a knowledgeable and organized Payroll Assistant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the Payroll Manager in all aspects of payroll processing for our company. This includes ensuring accurate and timely payments to our employees, maintaining payroll records, and providing support for payroll-related inquiries. The Payroll Assistant will also play a key role in implementing and maintaining payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
– Assist the Payroll Manager in all aspects of payroll processing, including but not limited to reviewing and processing times heets, calculating hours and overtime, and verifying accuracy of data
– Maintain employee payroll records and ensure they are up-to-date and accurate
– Prepare and process payroll for multiple locations and entities within the company
– Reconcile payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
– Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, including paychecks, hours, and deductions
– Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
– Assist with year-end payroll processes, including W2s and other tax-related documents
– Assist in the implementation and maintenance of payroll policies and procedures
– Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll regulations and laws
– Work closely with the HR team to ensure accurate and timely employee data for payroll processing
– Provide assistance with ad-hoc projects and assignments as needed
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
– Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing or related field
– Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and laws
– Experience working with payroll software (ADP, Paychex, etc.)
– Strong attention to detail and accuracy
– Excellent time management and organizational skills
– Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills
– Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
– Ability to work independently and in a team environment
